Glossary

This glossary defines key terms used in Hub4Sys documentation.

A

Artifact
Any file or resource added to a Hub4Sys project. Artifacts include specification documents, models, executables, images, videos, and other project-related files.

C

Code Compilation
The process of building executable files from source code on Hub4Sys servers. Community version users of Sim4Sys-Designer can upload their generated code to Hub4Sys for compilation, as they cannot build executables locally.

Contributor
A user role in a Hub4Sys project. Contributors can add, modify, and remove artifacts, participate in discussions, and contribute to the project, but cannot change member roles or delete the project.

D

Discussion
A forum-like feature in Hub4Sys projects that allows team members to ask questions, share information, and collaborate on project-related topics. Discussions support markdown formatting and message quoting.

E

Executable
A compiled program file (typically .exe on Windows) that can be uploaded to Hub4Sys projects. Executables are generated from Sim4Sys-Designer models and can be downloaded for use in Virtual Bench.

G

Guest
A user role in a Hub4Sys project. Guests have read-only access and can view project content but cannot modify artifacts or participate in discussions.

M

Model
A Sim4Sys-Designer model file (typically packaged as an archive) that can be uploaded to Hub4Sys projects. Models represent system designs and can be shared with team members.

O

Owner
A user role in a Hub4Sys project. Owners have full administrative control: they can add/remove members, change roles, manage all artifacts, and delete the project.

P

Private Project
A Hub4Sys project that is only visible to project members (owners, contributors, and guests). Private projects are not listed in public project listings.

Project
A container in Hub4Sys that organizes artifacts, discussions, and team collaboration. Projects can be public or private and support role-based access control.

Public Project
A Hub4Sys project that is visible to all users. Anyone can view public projects, but only members can contribute. Users who are not members are considered guests.

S

Specification
A document (PDF, Word, or ODT format) that describes system requirements, architecture, or other project documentation. Specifications are uploaded as artifacts to Hub4Sys projects.

Subscribe
The action of following a public project on Hub4Sys. Subscribed projects appear in your project list, and you can request to become a contributor.
